Ohlone Celebrates Earth Day on Thursday April 22, Joins the "Drive Less Challenge"

Show your care for the planet---and our local piece of it---by walking, biking, riding the bus, or carpooling to school on Thursday April 22. The traffic committee will greet your arrival at school with a table of pastries by the flag pole and an eagerness to hear what you experienced on your alternative commute. Did you notice more about your neighborhood being outside your car? Did you encounter more friends, wildlife, other notables?

This year PAUSD is joining local communities in the "Drive Less Challenge" from April 22 through May 6. The Drive Less Challenge is a social competition to reduce the amount of driving – the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions and the only source of traffic congestion --- in the Bay Area . It is a project of community green teams in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View, and Burlingame. See the website drivelesschallenge.com to sign up for the game-like contest, to log your daily, non-car trips, to share stories about alternatives to driving, and to get inspiration from other people's stories.

May Fête Children’s Parade -- Sat 5/1
Save the date.  Sat. May 1, 10am, downtown Palo Alto.

Palo Alto Recreation invites you to the 88th Annual May Fête Children’s Parade. This year’s theme, “Free to be…Me!” is all about honoring all the ways that our children and youth express themselves in a joyful and positive manner along life’s journey. The morning will be filled with spirited entertainment from local high and junior high school marching bands, floats, and thousands of children marching, skating, and cycling through downtown.

Following the parade, join Partners in Education and celebrate our schools with food, music, and games at the 8th Annual PiE Fair at Addison School until 1pm.
